You may have heard the story about the new husband enjoying home made roast beef. He observes before the meat is placed in the over, the wife removes 3" from the end. Curious about the ritual, he asks "Why cut the end off?" Her reply "That is the way our family does it and it tastes great"

A few months past and around the christmas table, the husband is seated next to his grandmother in law. He shares how much he enjoys his wifes roast beef and surprised how the family tradition of cutting the end enhances the roast. The elder lady turns and looks at him in a surprising manner. She says "when we bought our first house, the kitchen was a tiny thing. To fit the roast in the oven, I had to cut off 3" to fit the pan."
